Saitama prefecture is located in the Kantō region of Honshu, with the division of 63 municipalities: 40 cities (including one designated city, i.e., Saitama), 22 towns and one village. Saitama city is the capital of Osaka prefecture with a population of 1.3 million in 2021. The neighboring prefectures are Tochigi Prefecture and Gunma Prefecture to the north, Nagano Prefecture to the west, Yamanashi Prefecture to the southwest, Tokyo to the south, Chiba Prefecture to the southeast, and Ibaraki Prefecture to the northeast.

The 40 cities are one designated city Saitama and 39 ordinary cities, which are Ageo City, Asaka City, Chichibu City, Fujimi City, Fujimino City, Fukaya City, Gyoda City, Hanno City, Hanyu City, Hasuda City, Hidaka City, Higashimatsuyama City, Honjo City, Iruma City, Kasukabe City, Kawagoe City, Kawaguchi City, Kazo City, Kitamoto City, Konosu City, Koshigaya City, Kuki City, Kumagaya City, Misato City, Niiza City, Okegawa City, Sakado City, Satte City, Sayama City, Shiki City, Shiraoka City, Soka City, Toda City, Tokorozawa City, Tsurugashima City, Wako City, Warabi City, Yashio City, and Yoshikawa City.
The 22 towns and one village are Hatoyama-machi, Ina-machi, Kamikawa-machi, Kamisato-machi, Kawajima-machi, Matsubushi-machi, Minano-machi, Misato-machi, Miyashiro-machi, Miyoshi-machi, Moroyama-machi, Nagatoro-machi, Namegawa-machi, Ogano-machi, Ogawa-machi, Ogose-machi, Ranzan-machi, Sugito-machi, Tokigawa-machi, Yokoze-machi, Yorii-machi, and Yoshimi-machi; Higashichichibu-mura is the only village.
The 10 wards for Saitama designated city are Chuo-ku, Iwatsuki-ku, Kita-ku, Midori-ku, Minami-ku, Minuma-ku, Nishi-ku, Omiya-ku, Sakura-ku, and Urawa-ku.
