The U.S. state of Maryland State is divided into 24 counties and equivalents, then further divided into 290 county subdivisions or districts, known as minor civil divisions (MCDs), which are including 289 districts and the Baltimore city according to 2020 Census bureau. Based on US Census Bureau explanation, all of the MCDs are nonfunctioning nongovernmental subdivisions of a county, used for conducting elections or recording properties.
